Savant to Demonstrate Mobile Devices at CEDIA 2007
September 2007
Osterville, MA. September 6th-9th, 2007— Savant Systems LLC, with a visionary approach to home automation that emphasizes reliability and a maintenance-friendly open platform, has announced that they will be demonstrating mobile device integration in the Savant booth (booth # 899) at CEDIA Expo 2007.
Apple iPhone™, Nokia® N800 and other mobile devices on display
As part of its ongoing commitment to revolutionize home automation, Savant Systems will be showing a technology preview of several mobile wireless devices at CEDIA 2007. The mobile applications are created by the RacePoint Blueprint™ application with no further development required on the part of the dealer or installer.
As part of the technology preview, Savant will show the following devices:
- The Apple® iPhone™
- The Nokia® N800 Internet Tablet
- The Samsung® Q1 Ultra-mobile PC
- The Pepper® Pad 3 from Hanbit Electronics
- A standard Windows®-based Laptop PC
Savant’s mobile device application is based on the same foundation as its integrated touchpanel solutions, delivering the same graphically rich look and feel to the end user, who is assured of having a familiar and comfortable experience controlling their home remotely.
Savant’s
iPhone™ application takes advantage of that device’s unique user interface. The user can "pinch" to zoom in and out, and double-tap on user interface elements to bring them to the foreground. The entire Savant User Interface can be accessed on the iPhone™ with one hand.
The
Nokia® N800 offers a touchscreen interface that provides an excellent mobile platform for Savant’s graphically rich user interface. Additionally, the N800 application offers a "spatial navigation" feature that allows the homeowner to use the N800’s built-in navigation pad to navigate the Savant User Interface.
The
Pepper® Pad 3 presents a touchscreen interface coupled with a built-in split QWERTY keyboard. This allows the end user to easily access home network services in addition to the Savant User Interface.
The
Samsung® Q1 UMPC is based upon Windows Vista®. Savant’s user interface integrates seamlessly with this device. Users will appreciate the Q1’s ultra-bright high-resolution screen.
Finally, Savant will be showing the application running on a standard Windows®-based PC. On the PC, the end user can use Bonjour®, an Apple® technology, to browse to their Savant application(s) on the Local Area Network with no need to memorize IP addresses or domain names. Please visit CEDIA
booth 899 to see this groundbreaking technology.
